‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ isn’t lacking in star power, but if there’s one long cameo that rises above all the glamorous cameos in the film, it’s this one. Lady Gaga playing himself Accordingly Meryl Streepworking with him was nothing short of extraordinary.In an interview with PEOPLE, along with the returning cast members Anne Hathaway and Emily BluntStreep, 76, summed up her experience with the pop star in one word: “Divine.”
What Meryl Streep was like working with Lady Gaga
The three-time Oscar winner did not stop at just one word. “She’s funny, playful and constantly willing to improvise,” Streep said of Gaga, 40, who also contributed three songs to the film’s soundtrack. “He’s an amazing, amazing musician and a first-rate artist. A great actor.” He simply added, “I enjoyed working with him.”In the film, Gaga plays a no-nonsense version of herself who clearly takes issue with Streep’s iconic character Miranda Priestly. Their scene together, set during Milan Fashion Week, sees Gaga come face-to-face with Priestly before a fashion show in Italy. After Priestly leaves, Gaga’s character turns to her hair and makeup team and asks, “Who let him in here?”
Anne Hathaway’s sweet words for Lady Gaga
Hathaway, 43, was equable in her praise. “I want to mention one other thing about him that really made me happy,” he said. “I’m so moved by how humble he is. Very sweet to everyone, very talkative. He cared a lot, and there was zero attitude. Zero was like, ‘You take three, and then I’m out.’ I think he was on a world tour at the time!”“He was wonderful in every way a person can be,” Hathaway concluded.
It was Meryl Streep who called Lady Gaga
As it turns out, fans have Streep to thank for Gaga’s appearance in the film. During a recent Heart Breakfast appearance, Streep revealed that she personally called the singer to ask her to participate, much to the surprise of her co-stars.“It was me. Thank you. You’re welcome,” he said to a surprised Blunt. “I said, ‘Would you do this? Because it would be great.’ And she said, ‘Yes!'” Streep said, snapping her fingers. “Just like that. He’s on his year-long world tour, playing 75,000 people in a stadium, and he flew in and did it for us.”‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ is now in theaters.
