The Associated Press reported that the beloved film director and author died at the age of 56 in Paris on June 4, 2026. She was also a prominent activist known for her advocacy of women’s rights. The President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, paid their respects to the filmmaker and released a public statement.They said: “His death marks the loss of a major figure in French culture and an artist dedicated to freedom, whose work had a universal message and achieved great international acclaim.” They also added in the statement that he was “an outstanding artist who turned Iranian childhood into a universal fable.”According to the report, her friends and family said she died of “sadness”, a year after the death of her husband, film producer and actor Mattias Ripa.
