New Delhi: India’s double Olympic medalist I beg you said on Monday that he had made significant equipment changes ahead of the Asian Games and World Championships, hoping the adjustments would improve his medal chances at the two major events. After a hectic 2025 season, Manu revealed that she has returned to her old Pardini Army pistol for the 25m sports pistol event, the same setup she used at the Paris Olympics, where she finished fourth in the event and also won two bronze medals in the 10m air pistol events. His decision follows a difficult run with a new, high-tech Pardini model that didn’t live up to his expectations. “This problem is primarily caused by the pistol’s trigger mechanism and grip. I am back to the old and more reliable setup,” Manu told TOI on the sidelines of an event marking the 75th anniversary of the National Rifle Association of India here.Returning to a familiar weapon in a discipline, Manu has opted to upgrade in his fifth 10m air pistol event. “I am now using a new Morini pistol, building on my previous experience. I expect better results. However, the basic technique has not changed,” she said.Looking ahead, the 24-year-old highlighted the importance of international exposure before major competitions and said he is ready to train abroad. “I think the Indian team will go out of the country for the training camp, that would be good. I will leave that decision to the federation.”Meanwhile, plans to put some Asian Games athletes on docked cruise ships have raised concerns about possible discomfort, dizziness, imbalance or nausea for competitors in static sports such as shooting in India and the time it takes to adjust before competition rounds.“I would like the organizers to provide equal and stable living conditions to all competing players,” added Manu.
