This year’s second Padma Awards Civilian Investiture Ceremony will be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 23, where President Droupadi Murmu will confer the country’s prestigious civil honors on 65 eminent personalities.The ceremony, which took place last month after the first inauguration, honored 66 awardees. With a total of 131 Padma awards accepted this year, the remaining awardees will receive their awards in the second phase of the celebrations.

The Padma Awards, announced annually on Republic Day, are among India’s highest civilian honours. This year, the President accepted 131 awards, including five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri the honorsThe awards recognize outstanding contributions in a variety of fields, including the arts, literature, education, social work, medicine, public affairs, sports, science and engineering, commerce and industry, and public service.
Mammootty to receive the Padma Bhushan
Among the prominent names from the entertainment industry to be honored on June 23 is Mammootty, who has been selected for the Padma Bhushan.A prominent figure in Indian cinema, Mammootty has appeared in more than 400 films in multiple languages spanning five decades. The Malayalam superstar is regarded as one of India’s finest actors and is also known for his philanthropic initiatives and support for social causes.
R Madhavan To be honored with Padma Shri
Actor-filmmaker R Madhavan will be conferred with the Padma Shri.Popularly known as Maddy, Madhavan has had a successful career in television and films. Over the years, he has appeared in over 1,200 television episodes and about 75 films in Hindi, Tamil and other languages. Apart from acting, he has also ventured into agriculture, including organic hydroponic farming in Mumbai and maintaining a coconut farm in Tamil Nadu.
Satish Shah and Rajendra Prasad among other recipients
Veteran actor Satish Shah will also receive the Padma Shri. Renowned for his work in theatre, television and film, Shah has been entertaining audiences for over four decades and remains one of the country’s most loved comic performers.Joining him in the honor list is Telugu cinema veteran Rajendra Prasad, who has also been selected for the Padma Shri. With a career spanning over 40 years, Rajendra Prasad has acted in over 286 films in six languages and is recognized for his charitable and humanitarian work.The ceremony on June 23 will conclude this year’s Padma Awards, recognizing some of the nation’s finest personalities in various disciplines.
