New Delhi: Lucknow Supergiants, already out of the playoff contention, languish. Chennai Super Kings‘ Chances of further progress in IPL 2026 with a commanding win at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Friday.After restricting CSK to 187/5, with Akash Singh taking 3 for 26 in his first game of the season, LSG chased down the target to record a seven-wicket win with 20 balls to spare, their fourth victory in 12 games. The win took their tally to 8 points, but left them at the bottom of the 10-team standings. The defeat was a crucial one for CSK, who are still in the race for the playoffs. After the loss, CSK dropped to sixth position as their Net Run Rate (NRR) is now lower than Rajasthan Royals, who also have a game in hand. CSK have 12 points from 12 games, while RR have 11 from 12.With 11 games remaining in the league stage, defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru lead the IPL 2026 standings with 16 points, ahead of Gujarat Titans on the highest NRR.Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings are third and fourth with 14 and 13 points respectively.Behind CSK and still in the race for the playoffs are Delhi Capitals (10 points) and Kolkata Knight Riders (9 points).Mumbai Indians and LSG are the only two sides already out of contention.
