New Delhi: Celebrations were in full swing after Royal Challengers Bengaluru won their second consecutive Indian Premier League title by defeating Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. After Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, RCB became only the third franchise to successfully defend their IPL crown. The Rajat Patidar-led team initially restricted the Gujarat Titans to 155/8 before chasing down the target for the loss of five wickets with two overs to spare.As the RCB players and support staff celebrated another historic victory, Virat Kohli Stealing the spotlight with his wife Anushka Sharma. The star couple were seen dancing on the field moments after winning the title, soaking in the celebration with teammates and family members. For someone who has carried the weight of expectations since the season, it was a moment of pure joy. Kohli was also seen wearing a special T-shirt with the message, “One good one, we did it twice”, printed on the back – a fitting tribute to RCB’s successful title defence.RCB shared a video of Kohli and Anushka dancing and enjoying the moment of winning the title. The former captain was also seen mingling with batting coach Dinesh Karthik as the festivities continued late into the night.Kohli played a crucial role in the final, finishing unbeaten on 75 after the RCB bowlers laid the foundation for a five-wicket victory.“We’ve had to wait so long and then just to have a bunch of guys where you feel like you’re hitting the ground running, you don’t have to be the one to step up every time,” Kohli told the host broadcaster.“These are the guys behind you (and) around you, who can win games of cricket for you. We’ve also had a lot of man-of-the-match awards spread across the group.”“You look at the world-class bowling of Half (Josh Hazlewood), Bhu (Bhuvneshwar Kumar), Duff (Jacob Duffy), and Krunal Pandya – you can count on them as good as ever – Rashikh (Salam) Dar has been brilliant this season,” Kohli said.Kohli said that this year’s final felt very different from last year.“I told a few of the guys that it doesn’t feel like last year, we knew what kind of talent we had in the group,” he said.“We’re top of the table, there’s a reason we got here first and we just said one thing, ‘If we stick to our cricket, if we stick to our plans, we’re the best team in the competition’ and that’s the reason we’ve done so well so far.”“In the group stage, we ended up on top in the league stage and just the skill set (that) we have, the maturity, the passion of the boys showed again tonight and it was a clinical performance throughout the tournament,” Kohli said.
