However, things did not go as planned; the event was abruptly canceled even when fans and media had already arrived at the venue.

According to a report in Indian Express, the cancellation came as a surprise to everyone present, with the red carpet already rolled out and fans lined up outside PVR ICON in Andheri eager for the event to begin. Producer Ramesh Taurani made his way to the theater and broke the news to the crowd that the trailer could not be shown due to a “technical glitch”. He assured the media and fans that they will be called for a special performance in the next two or three days. The sudden turn of events left fans and media personnel visibly disappointed as they left the venue.

Trouble with ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ started a few days before the trailer was released. The film reportedly got into a legal dispute with Pooja Entertainment for using a remixed version of ‘Chunari Chunari’ from ‘Biwi No.1’. As the issue gained attention, music and film production company Tips Industries released a public statement: “Tips Music Limited (Tips) has become aware of a lawsuit filed by Puja Entertainment (India) Ltd. (PEIL) before the Civil Judge (Senior Division), Katihar, Bihar. Pending formal copies of the order, the music company clarifies that it is the legal owner of the music rights in question, supported by valid and binding agreements between the parties. Tips has operated these rights openly and legitimately in compliance with applicable laws for nearly three decades. The claims made by PEIL are highly disputed and malicious, ill-conceived and intended to tarnish the reputation and goodwill of the music company. It remains fully confident in defending its rights before the relevant courts and will take all necessary legal measures to protect its interests and ownership of rights”.
