As Housefull turns 16, Lara Dutta looks back at the memories of the film that went on to become a massive franchise. In a recent interview, the actor opened up about his camaraderie on set and made a surprising revelation about his co-star. Deepika Padukones dedication during filming.Recalling the shooting days in Italy, Lara told NDTV, “We went to Italy and we were like a big family on vacation. And I mean, Sajid Nadiadwala created this environment where we were all together. And when the production is smooth and smooth, then all the issues are relaxed too…it becomes perfect for working.”
‘Deepika had malaria… but she showed up every day’
Lara then revealed that not many people knew that Deepika Padukone was battling a serious illness during the shoot.He shared, “Not many people know this, that while shooting Housefull, Deepika felt really sick. She had malaria. And it was completely wiped out. So they had to get a doctor and put her on medication.”Highlighting her commitment, Lara added: “She had a high fever all night, shivering and taking medication. And the next morning, as we had a fixed schedule with multiple actors, she showed up on set. You could see that she was completely drained and wiped out. But she was a complete professional. She did her job. She didn’t completely drop in her performance.”
‘You have to give him credit for that’
Further praising her co-star, Lara said, “As an actor, you have to give that credit to another actor, I know how hard it is when you’re completely wiped out. Malaria completely hits you; it’s not like having a cold or a mild fever.”He also spoke about Deepika’s personality, adding, “She’s not shy, she’s reserved. She’s very clear and focused on what she has to do.
