NEW DELHI: Weeks after withdrawing his name from it Pakistan Super League (PSLto play in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Zimbabwean fast bowler Barkat Mazarani On Tuesday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) banned him for two years. PCB banned Mazarbani from PSL for two years. “In this instance, despite a clear offer and unequivocal acceptance of the necessary terms, the player chose to ignore these obligations in favor of conflicting arrangements,” the PCB said in a statement, as quoted by Cricbuzz.The Zimbabwe fast bowler accepted a contract with Islamabad United for PSL 2026 but later opted out of signing with KKR for IPL 2026.Right-arm pacer Mazarbani was among the standout bowlers in the recently concluded T20 World Cup, serving as the joint third-highest wicket-taker with 13 scalps as Zimbabwe made it to the Super Eight stage. Mazarbani, who won the first PSL title with Multan Sultans, was initially not selected in the PSL auction on February 11. However, a deal was later reached after dropping West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joseph after signing directly with Islamabad. Kolkata Knight Riders have signed Blessing Mazarabani for the IPL as a replacement for the Bangladesh fast bowler. Mustafizur Rehman.Earlier, KKR had released Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from their IPL squad following instructions from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Mustafizur was bought by KKR for Rs 9.2 crore in the 2026 auction.So far in the 2026 IPL season, Mazarbani has played two matches for KKR and has four wickets to his name, while conceding 75 runs at an economy rate of 10.71.
