Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Higher Secondary Examination results were declared on Tuesday. The results recorded a slight increase in the overall pass percentage, as 77.97% of the candidates cleared the exam compared to 77.81% in the previous academic year. In the latest results, girls outperformed boys too. While 84.89% of girls passed the exam, the ratio of boys qualifying for higher education was 68.41%. General Education Minister N Shamsuddin announced the results.A total of 3,72,423 school going candidates appeared for the higher secondary examination held in March 2026. Of these, 2,90,381 candidates qualified for higher education by securing the minimum required marks. The results are finalized keeping in mind the marks secured by the students in the first year higher secondary examination.Stream wise results reflect high pass percentage in science stream. A total of 84.52% students cleared the exam in the science stream, while the pass percentage in commerce and humanities stood at 74.74% and 66.38% respectively. Among Scheduled Caste students, 58.95% candidates cleared the exam, while among Scheduled Tribe candidates, the pass percentage stood at 65.33%.Talking about the sector wise performance of the schools, the students of aided schools recorded 82.82% pass percentage compared to 72.66% in government sector and 78.18% in unaided sector. There was also a slight increase in the number of students securing A+ in all subjects. A total of 30,561 candidates secured all A+. Last year the number was 30,145. Among all A+ holders, 23,095 are girls and 7,466 are boys. The largest number of students securing all A+s were from the science stream (22,970), followed by commerce (5,264) and humanities (2,327). About 60 students secured full marks (1,200/1,200). Last time 41 candidates achieved this feat. A minimum of 30% marks is required for candidates to pursue higher studies.Idukki district recorded the highest pass percentage (84.64%). The lowest pass percentage was in Kasaragod (71.72%). The highest number of students appearing for the examination was from Government HSS, Turrangadi, Malappuram, where 835 candidates appeared for the examination. Malappuram also recorded the highest number of A+ holders (4,621).The results of Higher Secondary Technical Stream, Art Stream and Open School examinations were also declared. 72.82% pass percentage was recorded in technical stream, 82.54% in art stream and 50.92% in open school stream. Meanwhile, the Vocational Higher Secondary Examination recorded a pass percentage of 72.49 percent. 25,259 candidates appeared in the VHSE examination.
