Alexandra Grant offered a rare and honest insight into her relationship Keanu Reeves Recently in Los Angeles at the launch event of his new wine brand. The 53-year-old visual artist spoke candidly about their dynamic, including creative boundaries, mutual respect and the importance of giving each other space to work.Speaking to People at the event, Grant reflected on what made their relationship work, especially when it came to supporting each other’s individual creative processes.

Grant revealed that both he and Reeves, 61, were careful to offer feedback on each other’s work. “He’s always appreciative, so he’s always cautious, I think, with feedback, and I’d say the same thing,” he said of whether he’d let Keanu visit his art studio while he was working. “You always want to be respectful and let the other person bake their cake. Talking about my love makes me sweat.“He described listening and communication as the foundation of their bond. “I would say that there is all the listening in the world that we know that we can talk about any problem or challenge or creative idea and we can talk forever if we need to, and also respect the individual’s need to dive deeper and maybe in a process or other collaboration that is quiet.”For Grant, the secret to their dynamic was two things. “The key to it is mutual respect, and also, well, it’s a game, right? It’s a game where we get to play creatively,” he said. “The last thing I’ll say is that I think we share a belief in projects. Each project has its own autonomy, its own team, its own rules, and it has a beginning, a middle and an end. So we’re both people who do projects, and you know, I’ve lived with John Wick, I’ve lived with Neo.”“He explained what it meant to respect Reeves as he delved into a role. “When it’s in a character, for example, I have a lot of respect for that understanding, which is from the middle to the end of a project. And I think the same thing happens with painting. When I’m in the form of a painter, I’m in it. I’m absolutely in it, and it’s not acting a character, but acting, you know, really painting is a form of interpretation.”

Grant and Reeves connected while working together on the book ‘Ode to Happiness’. The couple later started a publishing company together and eventually went public with their relationship. Grant has been a regular presence at Reeves’ red carpet events and premieres, attending the ‘Outcome’ premiere earlier this year and sharing a sweet moment with him at the ‘Good Fortune’ premiere last October.
