In a statement to TMZ, Perry’s rep said, “Ruby Rose’s allegations about Katy Perry on social media are not categorically false, they are recklessly dangerous lies. Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations against various individuals on social media, claims that those named have repeatedly denied.”

The response came hours after Rose accused Perry of sexually assaulting her nearly two decades ago. The Orange Is the New Black star claimed the incident took place at a Melbourne nightclub, writing on social media: “Katy Perry sexual [sic] He attacked me at the Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives [damn] what does he think”.Explaining her delay in speaking out, Rose said: “I was only 20 years old. I’m 40 now. It’s taken almost 2 decades for me to say this publicly. While I’m very grateful that it took me long enough to find my voice, it shows how much trauma and sexual assault affects me. Thank you for seeing me.”She also shared, “Before I open up about something that’s so raw and traumatic, I say to myself, ‘It’s okay, you don’t need people to believe you, you need to get out of your poor body, before it gives you cancer,’ but then I see this post and… I’m consumed by tears, in a good way. Thank you.”Rose later indicated that she planned to go to the authorities, writing that she would go to the police station to see if an investigation could be launched into “some of my experience” of the attack. “I see they’ve passed their statute of limitations, but all the more reason to try. I have a long list,” he added, noting that he had doubts before, “because he was too wounded and afraid to take the right measures, because I know the system rarely works.“

A few hours later, he confirmed that he had taken action, “I did.” He added: “I’m going to write about the reporting process. Both the crimes that happened when you were a child and the ones that happened as adults (at least in Australia), but for now I’ll say that I was surprised to find that the reporting process was fine.”“I just left the police station,” Rose wrote and added, “They said names inside the station who have more power than me. So far I feel very relieved but I have no hope.”

In 2019, actor Josh Kloss, who appeared in her “Teenage Dream” music video, accused the singer of misconduct, including an incident he alleged exposed her without consent. Around the same time, Georgia TV host Tina Kandelaki said Perry had behaved inappropriately with her at an industry event.An earlier incident during an American Idol audition in 2018 also drew attention, when Perry kissed contestant Benjamin Glaze on the lips without warning.
