Antony Varghese’s latest film ‘Kattalan’ has opened strongly at the box office. The action thriller had an impressive start on its first day and was one of the Malayalam blockbusters of the year.According to Sacnilk, ‘Kattalan’ collected Rs 3.40 crore on Day 1 from 3,358 shows nationwide. The film’s total gross collection in India stands at 3.91 crores, while the net collection in India remains at 3.40 crores after the release. The film was released in several languages, but the Malayalam version clearly led the overall performance.

The Malayalam version contributed the largest share in the film’s earnings. It grossed €2.85 million in 1,428 shows with an impressive 48 percent occupancy.As the days progressed the occupancy figures steadily improved. Morning occupancy was 36.42 percent. Evening shows recorded 38.50 percent and evening occupancy reached 40.17 percent.The Telugu version collected 20 lakhs with 24.67 percent occupancy. The Hindi version earned 28 lakhs while the Tamil collection earned 5 lakhs. Kannada collections remained low at Rs 2 lakh.The state gross collections were also dominated by Kerala. The state contributed Rs 3.30 crore on Day 1. Karnataka added Rs 20 lakh while Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together added Rs 30 lakh.
