Late night shows registered 15.73 percent later. Night shows once again topped the chart with 27.09 percent occupancy.ETimes’ review of the film says, “What initially makes Karuppu appealing is how firmly it roots itself in the court proceedings surrounding a stolen jewelery case involving Indrans and Anagha Maaya Ravi, who play a helpless father and daughter. The first half spends a lot of time investing in his desperation, vulnerability and quest for justice, which in turn gives the film its emotional core and the most effective hook in the blockbuster film: the idea of an ordinary man forced to live and act as a mortal defying a God.“The review adds, “We have Baby Kannan (RJ Balaji, effectively), a skilled lawyer who has played the system for so long that even the judge, Rajanayagam (Natty Subramaniam), seems to dance to his tunes. Preethi (Trisha Krishnan), a bona fide court lawyer, also struggles to win cases despite being able to prove malpractice. So when Baby Kannan bravely challenges Vettai Karuppu (Suriya, in aura farming form), the god who descends to help the father-daughter duo without resorting to divine powers to win the case, Karuppu finds real dramatic tension because the conflict is rooted in divine invincibility rather than human play.“DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers and data in this article have been collected from public and industry sources.
