Karisma Kapoor is back in a darker and tougher avatar as the teaser of ZEE5’s ‘Brown’ is out. The series stars her as Rita Brown, a damaged but driven cop who deals with personal pain while following a brutal case. Soon after the teaser was dropped, fans flooded the comments section with praise, saying that her comeback was strong and awaited. Many also said that they were excited to see Karisma in a raw role that looks far from her previous screen image.

The Hindu had earlier reported that ‘Brown’ stars Karisma as a determined but pill-popping cop who sets out to nab a psychopath. Her character, Rita Brown, struggles with alcoholism, loss, depression and her inner demons as she tries to be relevant in her career and life.Karisma told The Hindu, “The character is so raw and human.” He added: “I was looking for something creatively satisfying. In addition to a crime drama investigating the brutal murder of a Brown girl, we’re touching on a subject that’s not usually covered on screen.”The series is directed by Abhinay Deo and is based on the novel ‘City of Death’ by Abheek Baru. It is set in Kolkata and has an Anglo-Indian backdrop. The cast also includes Soni Razdan who plays Karisma’s mother.About the role, Karisma said, “An inspiring journey of a woman who is worn down and beaten. She is going through a lot but still shows up when the situation calls for it.”
