According to Filmibeat, he died of age-related health complications. His last rites will be performed today (May 26) at Palaiyur Patti in Madurai district, Cheran’s hometown near Melur. The funeral is expected to be attended by relatives, friends and several members of the Tamil film industry closely associated with Cheran.

Cheran hails from Melur in Madurai district. He has always been fascinated by the art of acting since its beginning. Initially she was a part of stage dramas but later moved to Chennai to make her mark in the film world. He initially worked as an assistant director under KS Ravikumar in a film titled ‘Puriyaadha Pudhir’. Some of the films where he got success and experience are ‘Cheran Pandiyan’, ‘Nattamai’ and ‘Mahanadhi’.‘
