Actor Jr NTR opened up about the transformative experience of fatherhood and how it has changed his views on his career and legacy. Notably, he expressed his intention to give his sons, Abhay Ram and Bhargav Ram, the autonomy to carve out their own identities, rather than dismissing their choices in deference to his family’s film history.

Jr. NTR has said that he does not want to push his sons, Abhay Ram and Bhargav Ram, into acting because they belong to a famous film family. The actor, who made his screen debut at the age of eight in 1991’s ‘Brahmarshi Viswamitra’, said fatherhood changed him profoundly and also shaped the way he looked at work, legacy and the choices his children wanted to make.

In an interview with Esquire India, Jr NTR said the birth of his elder son, Abhay Ram, brought about a quiet change. He said fatherhood also changed the roles he wanted to take on. “I started looking for naivety in my work. I didn’t want to be easy anymore. I wanted roles that pushed me, where something was learned or earned through effort,” he said. The actress said she wants to give her children freedom, not pressure. Jr NTR added that he doesn’t want to become the type of parent who decides their future.“I don’t want to be one of those fathers who say: Tumko bhi actor banna hai (You too must be an actor). I don’t believe in that; instead of being an obstacle, I want to be a bridge, someone who allows them to approach the world and other cultures. I want to give them the opportunity to go out and live for themselves,” he said.
