The director said that the actor contributed to many aspects of the production and was much more involved than a typical performer.‘Peddi’ has generated a lot of excitement since its announcement. The film marks Janhvi Kapoor’s first on-screen pairing with Ram Charan. Janhvi plays the character of Achiyamma in the upcoming film.
Buchi Babu Sana says Janhvi Kapoor did much more than acting
Bollywood Hungama reports that according to the filmmaker, Janhvi was very engaged throughout the shoot. He regularly spoke about costumes, production design and the staging of scenes related to his role.Praising her dedication, the filmmaker stated, “That girl is a very hardworking person – Janhvi. For this film, she was like assistant director, director, heroine, production designer, costume designer – all rolled into one.”
Khushi Kapoor was initially considered
The director also revealed that Khushi Kapoor was the first person approached for the role of Achiyamma. After meeting her, however, she felt the part needed someone with a more mature look.He revealed, “Initially I narrated the film to Khushi Kapoor. But once I saw her in person, I realized she is too young for this character. Now, imagine when I have to reject Khushi and Janhvi in the same house where I have to narrate. I felt bad and asked Janhvi if she didn’t insult Khushi.”The filmmaker said in a chat with M9 that it was an uncomfortable decision, but he felt Janhvi was the ideal choice from the start.
Director ‘Peddi’ explains the difficult decision
Buchi Babu recalled how he had to explain the situation to the two sisters. Creative decisions sometimes require uncomfortable conversations, he said.Recalling the awkward situation, he added, “I explained why I had rejected my sister. I looked at Khushi, said goodbye and said, ‘I don’t want you in the film; I want your sister”. But such things should be done for cinema. I knew from the beginning that this role would suit Janhvi. Even if I told others, I would portray her in the role.”
