Anticipations for megastar Rajinikanth’s much-awaited sequel ‘Jailer 2’ are soaring following rumors of a massive new cameo online. Reports point to that Bollywood icon Hrithik Roshan is looking for a major special appearance in the action entertainer. Helmed by director Nelson Dilipkumar and backed by Sun Pictures, the film has already completed major shooting schedules in Goa, Kerala and Chennai. With the score by Anirudh Ravichander, the project continues to generate a lot of curiosity, even though the makers have kept the official confirmation under wraps.

Like its predecessor ‘Jailer’, the sequel is expected to have several surprise appearances by stars from different film industries. The 2023 blockbuster featured actors like Tamannaah Bhatia, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Jackie Shroff in important cameo roles. Director Nelson has revealed that he wants to follow the same formula in ‘Jailer 2’ as well. Previously, it was reported that interviews had taken place Shah Rukh Khan for a cameo appearance. However, reports say that the actor has amicably walked away from the role.

After the reports of Shah Rukh Khan’s exit, Hrithik Roshan’s name has started to rise among the cinephiles. Dubbed the ‘Greek God’ of Bollywood by fans for his looks and toned physique, Roshan is believed to be in discussions for the special role, reported Zee News. Fans are happy to see her sharing screen space with Rajinikanth. While the makers have been tight-lipped about the casting rumours, social media chatter has already started on how Hrithik’s cameo can further up the film’s action quotient and star value.

Interestingly, Rajinikanth and Hrithik Roshan have appeared together in a film before. Hrithik Roshan made his debut as a child actor in the 1986 Hindi film ‘Bhagwaan Dada’, starring Rajinikanth. Hrithik Roshan played Rajinikanth’s adopted son in the film, and the actor has often spoken about the experience in interviews. Meanwhile, the work on ‘Jailer 2’ is said to be nearing completion, and only the patchwork scenes are left to be shot. While the film was initially expected to release in August, reports now suggest that the makers are targeting a September release around the Vinayagar Chaturthi festival season.
