Actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani and Rakul Preet Singh found love during the lockdown and finally got married in 2024 in Goa. In a recent interaction, the couple opened up about their bond, with Jackky describing the marriage in an unconventional way, calling it a situation, despite their commitment to each other.He reflected on how the couple came to the decision to marry. Jackky explained that they both entered the relationship with emotional clarity and independence. “We told each other that we’re not 20-21 anymore. We’ve both seen a lot of ups and downs. I’m single, I’m a happy person. I’m not looking for someone to fill that void, if I’m a depressed person, no matter what comes into my life, I’m going to be depressed.” And individually, you are happy too. Together, we are happier,” Jackky said in an interview with the Zingabad YouTube channel. Rakul echoed the sentiment, insisting that their relationship is not one of addiction. “We’re not filling a void in each other’s lives. It’s not like you didn’t take me on vacation, so I’m unhappy. I can only go on that vacation. I think there are more important things in life to talk about.”As the conversation shifted to modern relationship dynamics and the growing trend of sit-ups, Jackky shared his perspective on why so many prefer them today. He believes it comes from a desire to avoid expectations and restrictions. Then he linked that idea to their marriage. “Rakul and I are married, but we are equal in a situation, which is of course because we are exclusive, that is why we are married. But the most important thing is that I can talk to him about anything,” he said.Explaining what this openness looks like in practice, Jackky added that there is complete transparency between them. “Ex-girlfriend might feel awkward about it. Rakul knows everything about me. So if she knows everything, then I don’t have to hide anything,” he said, referring to taking calls even in her presence. We are equal in every way,” he said.He added that while some couples feel obligated after marriage, that has not been their experience. “We hope to spend time together.” Jackky concluded by questioning the popular notion that opposites attract, saying that such dynamics may not last in the long run. “In the long run, it’s going to fail, if your thought process, ethics, likes and dislikes don’t align, that’s where the differences start. Because then I start withholding information from you as a partner and vice versa,” he said.
