In an interaction with SCREEN, Buchi Babu Sana addressed the reaction and said, “In this film, I went a bit radical because ‘Peddi’ comes from a remote place, somewhere far from the hills. I wanted to show the rawness and then correct it in the end, saying that this guy is like that because of his upbringing and environment. He marries such a woman and thinks he loves that character.”He also confirmed: “In the process, some shots became misleading. We have taken corrective measures to remove them, and have removed them.”

Buchi Babu Sana also shed light on what sparked the idea for the film. He recalled seeing a fisherman swimming without protective gear off the coast of Uppada, which made him reflect on the untapped potential of the sport across the country.He said: “I thought this boy has the potential to play at the national level, to win medals at the Olympics for our country. The spirit of sports is in the lifeblood of this country. That’s what I wanted to show.”He also cited the Khelo India initiative as a key source of inspiration. He shared, “In 2017-18, Khelo India started with a vision to find players from every household and introduce them to the world. This became our main source of inspiration.”Emphasizing the tone of the film, the director stated, “This is not a commercial film. It is not just a culmination of five songs and a fight. The acting. Ram Charan I wanted this to be an inspirational story, our Peddi’s journey.” He added, “Ram Charan and I wanted to tell a good story. That brought us together.”

Before his latest comments, Buchi Babu Sana sent a formal apology via social media. “As a filmmaker, I believe cinema should entertain, inspire and connect with audiences. It should never make anyone feel uncomfortable or disrespected,” she wrote, adding: “I’ve always had the utmost respect for women, on and off screen, and it was never our intention to objectify or disrespect any female character.“
