Filmmaker Priyadarshan has strongly rubbished rumors of an incident between Akshay Kumar and Tabu over alleged edits in Bhooth Bangla. Buzz suggested that Tabu was unhappy after some of her scenes were cut from the film.Reacting strongly to the speculation, Priyadarshan rubbished the claims and clarified that there is no such problem.“I don’t know why and who is spreading this negative news. I am the director of Bhooth Bangla, and I decide what to keep and what not to keep. The film is a big hit, but still some are trying to spread negativity. Tabu is not upset at all. I have done eight films with her, and if she was upset, she would have told me. He is happy. Everything he shot is a part of the movie,” he told Pinkvilla.
“Akshay never gets in the way of change”
The director also addressed the possibility that Akshay Kumar had a role in the editing process, denying such involvement.“Also, Akshay didn’t ask me to edit any part; he never does. I do my job honestly, and all the actors come and watch the film before its release. Whoever is spreading such rumors should be ashamed,” he added.
The film is still going strong despite mixed reviews
Bhooth Bangla, which released on April 17, marks the pairing of Priyadarshan with Akshay Kumar, Tabu, Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav. Backed by Balaji Motion Pictures and Cape of Good Films, the film also stars Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead role.Although it has received mixed reviews, the film has gained momentum at the box office, working by word of mouth.The film also marks one of the last appearances of veteran actor Asrani, best remembered for his iconic role in Sholay. He died on October 20, 2025, at the age of 84.She will also be seen in Haiwaan, another project starring Akshay Kumar and directed by Priyadarshan.
