Captain of Punjab Kings Shreyas Iyer He remained calm and reflective after his side’s back-to-back defeats, insisting that the team was in a strong position despite the setback.Speaking after the defeat to Gujarat Titans, Iyer felt that 163 was a competitive total given the nature of the pitch. He pointed out that there was early support for the bowlers on the surface and credited the opposition with making better use of it. “I personally feel it was a very good score on a wicket where the ball was doing a little bit at the start… their bowlers made the best use of the surface,” he said.PBKS faltered early, losing four wickets inside the powerplay, but a recovery led by Suryanesh Shedge helped them post a fightback. Iyer acknowledged the effort. “It was a phenomenal effort to get to 160 from there,” he noted, while also admitting that his bowlers could not create the same control with the new ball.He highlighted execution as the key difference, especially on pitches with variable bounce where making strokes was not easy. “It wasn’t easy to hit mid-wicket or play bridge…we fell a bit short in terms of execution,” explained Iyer.Despite the loss, the PBKS captain emphasized the positives, especially the team’s attitude and resilience. “The way we fought till the end is a credit to the effort. The attitude and approach was excellent,” he said.Importantly, Iyer reminded that Punjab Kings are still sitting at the top of the table. “We are still top of the table which is important. We will take positives from this game,” he added, underlining the importance of staying grounded.Looking ahead, Iyer seemed optimistic about bouncing back in the next match. He stressed the importance of preparation and mindset, saying that the team is working behind the scenes. “If the character is high and the attitude is right, you will eventually get results… just stick to your basics and not think too far ahead.”With the playoff race tight, PBKS may stumble for a while, but the message from their captain is clear — be prepared, trust the process, and the results will come.
