New Delhi: In a shocking development, the CCTV surveillance system at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium was damaged on the day of the IPL 2026 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans on April 24, according to a Deccan Herald report.The report said that more than 240 cameras were found to be inoperable, disrupting surveillance in key security areas on the day of the match.Despite the chaos, defending champions RCB successfully chased down Gujarat Titans’ mammoth 205/3 in 18.5 overs.The Kuban Park police swung into action and registered a case against two persons – Manjunath (37), a resident of Harivar in Chitradurga, and Abdul Kalam (19), who hails from Uttar Pradesh.

“The incident took place during the match on April 24. Both the accused were working under a sub-vendor of IVS Digital Solutions, which was providing digital services on match days,” said a senior police officer.Who filed the complaint?According to the report, Aditya Bhatt, an employee of Staqu Technologies Pvt Ltd, a Gurugram-based firm that provides AI-powered monitoring solutions on match days, filed a police complaint.He alleged that Manjunath and Abdul entered the CCTV control room without a pass. He also accused them of damaging the network video recorder (NVR) system and associated fiber connections.CCTV footage allegedly shows the two accessing restricted areas.Due to the disruption, officials were unable to provide a live surveillance feed to police personnel stationed at the stadium.What was the reason behind the loss?During investigation, the accused allegedly told the police that they had not paid the dues of Rs.10 lakh.
