New Delhi: Gujarat Titans all rounder Washington Sundar He hit the most outrageous sixes in IPL history during the IPL 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. The brilliant hit not only sent the crowd into a frenzy but also forced the Gujarat Titans dugout to burst into applause.
The six came in Ishan Malinga’s 19th over when Sundar hit a low full toss over the deep midwicket fence over middle and leg for a flat six while almost sitting on the ground.Gujarat Titans finally beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 82 runs to top the IPL 2026 points table. After half-centuries from Sai Sudharsan (61) and Washington Sundar (50) took GT to 168/7 on a difficult batting surface, Kagiso Rabada (3/28) and Jason Holder (3/20) rattled the SRH batting line-up to win their fifth straight IPL2020 championship. Chasing 169, SRH slumped to 60/7 as Rabada struck early with the new ball before Holder tightened the screws after the powerplay. In the end, the Hyderabad team was bowled out for just 86 runs in 14.5 overs.Sidharson opened the innings with a 44-ball 61, which included five fours and two sixes, while Sundar’s 33-ball 50, which included seven fours and a brilliant six, was instrumental in guiding GT to a competitive total.“(How happy are you?) Definitely happy. I mean I was just focusing on reading the situation. And obviously the wicket was completely different from other games. So I just wanted to understand what shots could be played on that wicket and be successful. And it was also important that the set played till the end for one of the batsmen. That helps,” Sunder said after the match.“(That six in square league when you’re sitting pretty low on the ground. How good was that?) It happened (Middle), I mean, I was trying to get that shot right, earlier too, but they were nailing the yorkers really well. Glad it worked out the other way,” Sunder said, explaining the six.“(What was the plan?) The plan wasn’t to think much. It was honestly the plan. But yes, thoughts do come from time to time. But yes, like I said, I was more focused on understanding the wicket and the situation. And I asked one of us, myself or Sai, to play it to the end. And I’m happy with the way I tried to finish it. 100%. I mean, by the 17th or 18th over, I didn’t really want to go all out. But of course in the last two overs I tried to hit as many boundaries as possible. Also, the shots possible on this wicket looked varied to play. But yeah, I mean, things went pretty well today,” he said.“(What’s it like facing Rabada and Siraj in the nets?) I don’t think I should give too much away, but yeah, I have to be really disciplined and watch the ball closely and just expect them to miss a couple of balls where you might get a boundary or two and then eventually get it. I actually gave a little, but not too much. (How satisfying is it to get to 168 and then defend it?) I mean, our team, the setup, speaks volumes about the kind of people that are part of the setup as well. They value playing some good cricket, whatever the conditions. And of course, we will try to understand the situation and play accordingly. It’s really important in this format too. And I think we have done a great job this year,” Sunder added.
