Finn Allen played a sensational innings to register his first IPL century during Match 51 against Delhi Capitals, joining Brendon McCullum and Sunil Narine in the Kolkata Knight Riders list of century scorers.Batting first, Delhi Capitals scored 142 runs on the board. In reply, KKR were buoyed by an impressive innings from Allen, who remained unbeaten on 100 off just 47 balls. His explosive innings coupled with an easy cameo from Cameron Greene (33) propelled Kolkata to a dominant victory.Finn Allen became only the fourth KKR batsman to score a century in 19 seasons of IPL history.

During his brilliant innings, Allen hit 10 sixes, moving to third in KKR’s list for most sixes in a single IPL innings. Russell is second with 11 sixes, while McCullum still tops the charts with 13 sixes from his brilliant 158* in the IPL opener in 2008.After being named player of the match, Allen reflected on his innings and explained that he focused on batting responsibly after KKR lost the opening two wickets.“What I’ve been working on is getting more strings to my bow. We obviously lost a few wickets early on, so I just tried to take a little bit of responsibility and get the win on the board for the boys,” Allen said during the post-match presentation.He also admitted that the pitch was challenging early on and praised Akshar Patel’s disciplined bowling spell.“It was still a bit challenging in the beginning. Axar bowled really well and restricted us. So I just tried to get into a strong position and bat deep,” he added.
