Now, the famous actor receives one of the UK’s highest honors, as King Charles recognizes his outstanding contributions.According to People magazine, King Charles nominated actor Idris Elba for his services to youth at his investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle on Tuesday. The actor received the knighthood in recognition of his charity work and commitment to supporting the youth community.

The Royal Family shares photos from the investiture ceremony on their Instagram handle, showing King Charles tapping a sword on Idris Elba’s shoulder as he kneels to receive his knighthood. “Congratulations to everyone honored at today’s Investiture ceremonies hosted by The King at Windsor Castle. Sir Idris Elba for his services to young people,” the Royal Family captioned the carousel.The star reposts the story on her Instagram as she expresses her gratitude to the Royal Family for the knighthood. “We are grateful. The work continues,” Elba wrote on top of another photo showing him wearing his medal and holding hands with Elba’s wife Sabrina on the grounds of the castle. The star marks the handles of Sabrina’s Instagram and the Elba Hope Foundation, which the couple founded in 2022 to help diaspora communities and create greater opportunities.

Elba serves as a goodwill ambassador for The King’s Trust and has donated her arts to a grant she received from the royal charity when she was 18. The knighthood is announced in King Charles’ 2026 New Year’s Honors List, and the moment becomes official at the investiture ceremony.Speaking at the premiere of ‘Hijack’ Season 2 in January, Elba said the recognition is still sinking in, calling it a “real honor” to have her work recognized. “I haven’t talked about this, but I will say that it’s a real honor to be recognized for the work. Especially to try to make so much noise for young people and the things that some of them are going through. So I think it’s an honor.
