‘Awarapan’ continues to enjoy enduring popularity, which has fueled excitement for its sequel ‘Awarapan 2’, with Vishesh Films recently announcing its release date. In the meantime Emraan Hashmi will return to the main role, Mohit Suri he will not direct the film. In a recent interview, the filmmaker explained why he is not directing the sequel.
Why Mohit Suri is not directing ‘Awarapan 2’
Mohit explained why he is not directing ‘Awarapan 2’, telling NDTV, “I was never offered that, that’s all. I think they wanted to work, but that’s not it. I would work with Emraan in a hat. The problem with him is that I’ve done eight films with him. He knows I can’t give him a role. But I think doing a part will be more favorable for me than for him.
Mohit Suri reacts to Emraan Hashmi’s interview in ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’
Suri also reacted to ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’ line, “Akkha Bollywood ek taraf aur Emraan Hashmi ek taraf (All of Bollywood on one side and Emraan Hashmi on the other)” and said, “That scene was kickass. I think what Raghav was really doing is what I have achieved all my life. It happened 20 years later; that’s exactly what it is. Emraan is my elder brother. We actually grew up watching the same movies together. That’s how I think we were educated in the sensibility, in the movies we like, in the music we like. And in the end, she was my first hero and my hero in eight films. So I am the one who can really say puri industry ek taraf and Emraan bhai ek taraf”.
