New Delhi:Virat Kohli He is usually in the limelight for his batting prowess – big runs, match-winning knocks and ability to chase down targets. But this time, the star batsman has grabbed attention for another reason. Kohli, who is currently involved in IPL 2026, reportedly ‘liked’ a picture of German model-influencer Liz Laz.Within minutes, screenshots of the conversation spread across social media, turning a small action into a viral talking point. Interestingly, Kohli does not follow the influencer, which has fueled curiosity about the incident.
LizLaz, who suddenly found herself trending online, later reacted to the situation. Speaking to Hindustan Times, she said: “It was crazy because I woke up and then I was all over the news.” He also explained how he found out about it: “I don’t even know when he liked the picture, I found out through the news. A lot of people found articles on me on different platforms and sent them to my DM. I got a lot of messages today, people were very excited about it.“When Kohli was later asked about his alleged disapproval of the post, he added: “I feel a little sorry for them!” She continued, “I was so happy that she liked it, but then she disliked it, I felt a little bad for her because I don’t even know how it became such a big story, how people saw it, how it made news… Maybe it wasn’t the intention behind it, but still I’m thankful for her and I appreciate her support.”Liz Laws also revealed that she is a fan of Kohli. “I started traveling all over South India, Goa, Mysore, even Coorg, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and then the north as well. And that travel was when I was introduced to cricket as a sport. I hadn’t seen it before or anything. I was born in South Africa but raised in Germany, where the national sport is just football.”“Obviously it was IPL last year, so I started watching with my friends from Bangalore, it was contagious. I was also becoming a fan of Royal Challengers Bangalore. And obviously, if you support RCB, Virat Kohli is the most exciting player to watch. He’s great. So I’m glad to like his picture.”This is not the first time that Kohli has been in the news for such incidents. Earlier, he briefly liked a post by Avneet Kaur, which also took social media by storm.Kohli later issued a clarification, saying: “I would like to clarify that while cleaning my feed, it appears that the algorithm has registered an interaction by mistake. There was absolutely no intention behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made. Thank you for your understanding.”
