A tribute concert is set to be held in honor of legendary musician John Farnham. Entitled ‘The Songs of John Farnham: A Living Legend’, the concert will invite some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry to take to the stage to pay tribute to the iconic singer this year. The John Farnham tribute concert will take place later this year
The Herald Sun reports that a tribute concert called ‘The Songs of John Farnham: A Living Legend’ will take place later this year, in September. The concert is scheduled for September 20 and will officially be held at the famous Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne.Proceeds from the concert will be donated to Head and Neck Cancer Australia on behalf of the veteran singer. The organization is close to the Farnhams as they were the ones who helped him when he started to fight cancer after his diagnosis.

According to the report, many iconic singers and performers have been confirmed to perform at the September concert. This includes the iconic Celine Dionalong with the legends of the actors Hugh Jackman and Keith Urban too. Other names invited to perform at the concert include Jimmy Barnes, Tina Arena, Richard Marx, Human Nature and Jessica Mauboy.
John Farnham talks about the tribute concert
In the same report, he talked about how honored he felt for the tribute concert, and that some of his closest friends, along with some legendary icons, will also be performing on stage at the concert. He also commented: “I’ve been incredibly lucky to spend my life doing what I love, and even luckier to have Australians embrace my music the way they have. This (tribute concert) isn’t about me, it’s about giving back and supporting a cause that means so much to me.“He also added: “That incredible artists from around the world have so generously agreed to be a part of this night is incredibly humbling and says a lot more about the spirit behind this event than it does about me. I hope everyone has a great night.”Furthermore, when the idea of the concert was presented to him, he explained that he completely refused it, because he thought it was too much of a “mess”. He repeatedly said no to the idea, until it was announced that the money raised from the concert could go to the organization he was supporting.
Who is John Farnham?
Farnham is an iconic singer and songwriter from Australia. He first became famous as a teenager, when he entered the music scene around 1967. He started his career in country as a teenage pop icon and slowly became one of the most respected artists in the industry. He formally retired from the industry in 2024 after being diagnosed with oral cancer.
