While gearing up for a new release after IPL 2026 is over, this week is one of the biggest Hindi movies to hit. David DhawanEntertaining comedy ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’. the protagonist Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegdethe film has already generated considerable curiosity among moviegoers. Before its release, however, the film underwent some suggested changes General Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Several scenes and dialogues have been changed in ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’
According to Bollywood Hungama, the comedy drama has received a U/A 16+ certificate from the censor board. While giving the approval, the Screening Committee instructed the makers to make some changes throughout the film. Some dialogues were changed after certain words were deemed inappropriate. The board also objected to a visual that featured an offensive hand gesture and called for it to be changed.In addition, references to a condom brand were eased. While the on-screen brand name was blurred, the flavor-related terms associated with the product were obscured in the audio track.
Cricket references have also been tweaked in ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’.
Interestingly, a sequence with the names of English cricketers Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes was also changed. The video was edited and shortened, with the final approved version limited to six seconds.The management also suggested changes to a dance sequence. In some shots where the female actors appeared, the visuals were adjusted because the underwear was visible. The authors were asked to reframe the footage by focusing more on the performers’ faces and upper bodies.
Certificate issued after changes
After implementing all the recommended revisions, the film was given a censor certificate on 27 May. The official certificate also shows the duration of the film. ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ has a running time of 136 minutes and 40 seconds which is approximately 2 hours and 17 minutes.
David Dhawan’s star-studded comedy
The film is yet another comedy outing from David Dhawan, a filmmaker known for delivering popular entertainment over decades. The lead actors are Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde. They are joined by Maniesh Paul, Chunky Pandey, Jimmy Shergill, Mouni Roy, Rakesh Bedi, Ali Asgar and Rajesh Kumar in important roles.Produced by Ramesh Taurani under the banner Tips Films, the film is expected to blend humor, romance and family drama in classic David Dhawan style.

With the censor formalities over and promotional activities in full swing, ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ is all set to release on June 5.
