the issue between Ranveer Singh and the Federation of West Indian Cine Workers (FWICE) appears to be softening, confirming that the federation will respond to the legal notice sent by the actor’s group, while continuing efforts to resolve the matter amicably.FWICE President BN Tiwari said the federation has decided to withdraw the non-cooperation directive Ranveer and rely on industry organizations to help resolve the issue through dialogue.
FWICE says it will respond through legal channels
Addressing the legal notice received by Ranveer’s representatives, Tiwari said the federation would handle the matter through appropriate legal procedures.“Everyone has a legal team. We have been sent a notice and our legal team will respond. We will continue to pursue the matter legally. But as we feel the issue is heading towards resolution, we have taken a step forward and put our faith in the producer bodies and industry representatives,” he told Hindustan Times.The statement comes amid efforts by various industry players to defuse tensions surrounding the Ranveer and Don 3-related controversy.
“We never wanted to drop a superstar”
Tiwari said that FWICE’s actions were never meant to harm the actor’s career.“Honestly, we thought that once we gave the directive of non-cooperation, they would come forward and talk to us. But I think his team was misdirected. Their letter said that we are not under your jurisdiction. He is an artist and a member of CINTAA, and he is affiliated with the CINTAA federation. So we had to take action,” he said.He added: “We never wanted to bring down a superstar. We never wanted to stop him from progressing. He is a successful actor and we have to think about that too. We have no personal interest in this matter. We work for our employees and technicians.”
Producers’ bodies helped pave the way
According to Tiwari, discussions with industry bodies, including producer organisations, played a key role in the federation’s decision to withdraw the directive.“We had meetings with IMPPA and other producer organizations. They told us that the atmosphere was not right, and that we had to remove the non-cooperation directive in order to have proper discussions. We accepted their suggestion and decided to remove it. We are a family and we want to solve the problem amicably,” he said.
“I have good faith in Ranveer Singh”
While Tiwari revealed that she had met filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and his team members, she said she never got the chance to interact with Ranveer directly.“If I had sat with Ranveer, maybe there wouldn’t have been a problem. He is busy, but I don’t have a problem with him. I want his happiness, I want his success and the survival of the film industry,” she said.Reflecting on his decades-long career in the industry, Tiwari added that his only concern is the welfare of the film fraternity.“I have spent 50 years in this industry. I have worked with legends like Dilip Kumar, Rajendra Kumar, Dara Singh, Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra. At this stage, I am not looking for anything for myself. I just want the industry to progress. I have good faith in Ranveer Singh,” he said.
