The Film and Television Institute of India has decided to re-conduct its entrance exam for all candidates following reports of disruptions at a center in Delhi during the April 26 test.In an official statement, the institute said the decision was taken after reviewing the report of a committee set up to look into the matter. Based on its results, FTII will now conduct a re-written examination for all papers across the country.“The decision to conduct a complete re-examination at the national level has been taken to ensure a uniform, fair, and reliable evaluation process and to provide a level playing field to all candidates, in view of concerns about the transparency and integrity of the examination process due to some operational flaws and a major disruption at the Delhi center that led to cancellations at the examination center,” it said. The problem started on April 26 at a center in Delhi, where an examination had to be canceled in a certain building after a disruption. A few students reportedly entered the strong room, misbehaved with the staff, and created a law and order situation after the paper was delayed. After the incident, an emergency meeting was held with the officials of the examination agency and the centre. The examination of this building was cancelled. An observer from the police and FTII was present at the spot.Later, during the second shift, the FTII observer noted the concerns raised by some of the candidates. As a result, the exam of the second shift was also canceled in the same building.FTII has said that candidates need not re-register for re-examination. Their current application details will be used. The institute will announce the revised schedule and release the new admit cards through its official website at least one month before.“The institute regrets the inconvenience caused to the candidates and assures that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure smooth, transparent and fair conduct of the re-examination,” it added.
