New Delhi: Former Australian captain Michael Clarkewho was part of the commentary team, has revealed that he was involved in a serious road accident soon after. IPL The 2026 finale heads to the airport, describing the incident as a terrifying experience, thankful that he escaped with only bruises.Clark, who was traveling as a passenger, said the vehicle he was in collided with a semi-trailer and was partially pinned under the truck.“Interesting trip home, to say the least,” Clarke said on the Beyond23 Cricket podcast. “I begin by thanking God for the good people in India. That’s why I got him home safely.” Woke up to find the car under a truckThe 45-year-old said he fell asleep after the final and woke up to the effects.“I was sleeping. I fell asleep after the game, traveling, obviously, I wasn’t driving. Then I woke up to the front half of the car being under a truck,” Clark revealed.According to Clark, the driver later told him the truck’s brake lights were not working.“The driver explained to me that the truck’s brake lights weren’t working. So my driver rear-ended the truck. Again, it was a big semi-trailer and our car went down,” he said.“The car is definitely written,” he added.Concern for the injured driverWhile Clark escaped with minor injuries, it is feared the driver may have suffered a broken leg from the impact.“I got away with some injuries, but I definitely think he had a little bit of a broken leg,” Clark said.He added that the driver was badly shaken and distraught as the vehicle belonged to the company he worked for.“I was really worried because he was so scared. It wasn’t his car, he works for the company,” she said.Clark said he urged the driver to seek medical attention and hoped he would eventually go to the hospital.Grateful for the cooperation of local people and BCCIThe former Australian captain was especially appreciative of the locals who rushed to help and the BCCI officials who checked on both him and the injured driver.“Everybody in the BCCI, everybody there, they are checking it and they are checking in on me,” he said. “It was a total accident. These things happen all the time, but it was more of a shock to me because I was fast asleep and then woke up to find myself so close to being hit by a truck.”Despite the scare, Clarke managed to catch his flight home and reflected fondly on another stint around the IPL.“Not the ideal way to go home, but I made my flight. I’m back here and I’m very lucky to have been part of another great IPL campaign. I love it,” he added.
