TimesofIndia.com in Mohali: After receiving the green signal from the Center of Excellence (CoE), Rohit Sharma IS Bandra looked in good touch during India’s optional training session at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on Wednesday.Rohit Sharma was the first to exit the team bus, and security officials and Punjab Police personnel pulled out their phones as the former India captain was inundated with selfie requests. He obeyed a few before heading straight into the pavilion.The 39-year-old began with a slight jog before coming out to bat in the open nets alongside his former Mumbai Indians opening partner Ishan Kishan.Rohit looked a bit rusty at the start as Nitish Kumar Reddy hit him on the pads. But as the sun began to set, the right-hander looked very much in touch. Flux, Pulse, Kit and Drive were all on display. None of the fast bowlers, Arsdeep Singh, Gurnoor Brar or Prince Sharma could trouble him.Rohit shared the fast bowling with the Nets. Shreyas IyerAfter each over, both the batsmen switch over. In the side nets, Ishan Kishan and Yeshwhi Jaiswal were fearless against the spinners.After a good 45 minutes against the fast bowlers, Rohit Sharma was involved in a conversation with batting coach Sitanshu Kotick. After that, he moved to the spinner nets, where he faced left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey and Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) net bowlers. One thing missing from Rohit’s batting was that he never charged down the track against spinners or fast bowlers. He finished the session with fielding coach T Dileep with a few high catches.India’s new T20I captain Shreyas Iyer also looked in good touch. The batsman, fresh from playing for the SoBo Mumbai Falcons in the Mumbai T20 League, hardly looked troubled. Gurnor Brar tested them with a short-pitched delivery.Barring Yashvi Jaiswal, the players who played the only Test against Afghanistan at New Milanpur have pulled out of the training session. Notable absentees were captain Shibman Gill, KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasad Krishna and Washington Sundar.India won the Test match by an innings and 300 runs. The first ODI of the three-match series will be played in Dharamshala on Saturday (June 13), followed by Lucknow on June 17 and Chennai on June 20.
