Saini S Johray, a production designer associated with the film Dhurandhar, has been booked by the Chandigarh Police after a woman working on the project complained of sexual harassment. Johray is said to have secured bail in the case and has yet to publicly address the allegations.According to the India Today report, the FIR was registered at the Sector-17 police station in Chandigarh after the complainant, a resident of New Delhi, filed a written complaint on April 20. After a preliminary investigation, the police registered a case under sections 74, 79, 123 and 126 (2) of the Bharatiya (NSaya) Sanhiratiya (NSA).According to the complaint, the woman alleged that Johray called her to a room at Taj Chandigarh on the pretext of a professional discussion and then sexually harassed, assaulted and wrongfully locked her. He also complained that an intoxicating substance had been mixed in his drink.

In his statement, the complainant said he was studying in Government College when a faculty member sent his resume to the Dhurandhar group. He alleged that he was subsequently hired as an assistant director on September 2, 2025.The woman said Johray introduced himself as her mentor and said he was an alumnus of Delhi College of Art, which helped her build trust in him.According to the complaint, Johray invited her to meet him at his hotel room in Chandigarh, allegedly saying it was work-related. He said he initially assumed other team members would be involved, but later realized he was the only one called.The complainant further alleged that Johray had repeatedly warned her not to tell anyone about the meeting, saying it could have a negative impact on her professional image.
Allegations related to the hotel meeting
The woman stated that she arrived at the hotel around 20:30 on September 10, 2025. According to her complaint, Johray allegedly pressured her to consume alcohol and prepared a drink containing wine and rum, insisting that she finish it despite her doubts.He said that shortly after consuming the drink, he began to experience severe dizziness and repeatedly asked to leave the room, but complained that he stopped doing so.The complainant also alleged that while offering to teach her bachata dance, Johray engaged in inappropriate physical contact and made inappropriate advances towards her.According to the FIR, the woman stated that her condition worsened in the next few minutes and she vomited several times. He also complained that despite his request to go home, he was not allowed to leave the hotel room.The complaint accused Johray of continuing the alleged inappropriate behavior while in the bathroom and later forcing her into a bed while pressuring her to stay the night.The woman stated that she was scared, that she was physically weak and could not fight back. He complained that he was in great distress all night and left the hotel alone the next morning using a bicycle taxi.
Research underway
The complainant also accused Johray of later filing allegations against her, which she said increased her mental anguish.A police investigation is currently underway. The allegations in the complaint are the claims of the complainant, and the defendant has posted bail pending legal proceedings.
