‘Game of Thronesthe star Emilia Clarkehe opened up about the emotional experience of dealing with life, loss, a fear of death and more throughout the film industry. The actress, who revealed her near-death experiences while dealing with brain hemorrhages, spoke on a recent podcast ‘How To Fail with Elizabeth Day’ about balancing work commitments during her father’s final days in hospital battling cancer.Recalling the last few days before his death, Clark revealed that he was shooting a “small” independent film in Kentucky while his father was critically ill in the hospital. She said, “So I was shooting this little movie that almost didn’t even get released because I really wanted to do it. And I remember after I left and I said, ‘Should I quit?'”According to Clarke, her mother encouraged her to keep working, reminding her, “Your father is a professional. If you didn’t do this job, it would kill you.’The actress said she was filming in Kentucky when she received a heartbreaking call to inform her that her father was undergoing an operation he “might not live through”, adding that he had initially survived the operation. Clark later received another call asking him to come home. However, by the time he arrived, his father was in a coma.He went on to reveal that after sitting with his father for three days he got a call from his work asking him to rejoin the shoot. She said: “I sat with him for three days, and then my job was like, ‘We can’t continue filming if you don’t come home,'” she said.Despite the circumstances, Clarke said her mother urged her to finish filming again, saying, “You’ve got two weeks left. Go, come back.”However, shortly after returning to Kentucky, she recalled waking up in the middle of the night to another urgent message. “‘It’s time. You have to come back.’ So I didn’t tell anyone. I just left,” he said.Clarke then described the harrowing journey home, including a long flight where she had no way of contacting her family. “I was like, what can I do? I’m going to do a thought experiment. A butterfly can be in a hospital. And so I’m flying around the hospital and making sure the doctors are going to do a really good job and I’m waving around my dad, saying, ‘I’m coming.’ I’m going home‘”Clark said he finally fell asleep on the plane and had a vivid dream. “In the dream, I’m in my airline seat and my dad’s hospital bed is next to me and he turns around and says, ‘I’ve come to say goodbye.'”When she landed, Clark said she got a text from her mother, “Don’t rush,” and she immediately realized her father had passed away.After returning home, Clark spent time with his father’s body along with his family. He then described a moment that left a lasting emotional impact on him. “My mom and my brother had been in the hospital for days and we opened the house and there’s this butterfly flying in the room,” he recalled.Clark said butterflies have always been closely associated with memories of his father.
