Elliot Page talks about growing up queer
The 39-year-old actor recently lent his voice as a narrator and also produced the documentary Second Nature, which explores same-sex relationships in the animal kingdom. Speaking with People, Page shared how her own experiences as a queer person inspired her to support the project and help bring it to life.Reflecting on her own childhood, she said, “That feeling of growing up as a weird kid and feeling alone—because you feel like you’re alone, even though, of course, in retrospect, you weren’t—you feel left out, because you feel like there’s something wrong.”He also highlighted the importance of the documentary, highlighting how heteronormative ideas are usually imposed on society. “You carry the bricks of shame, and there are such implications and consequences in terms of censorship and erasure… and this idea that nature is organized around a cis-heteronormative system is completely false,” she added.

In 2020, Page shared a candid statement on social media announcing that she is transgender. “Hey guys, I want to share with you that I’m trans, my pronouns are he/they, and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have come to this place in my life.”
