Ektaa Kapoor shared the first look of her upcoming film ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’, in which she stars. Vedang RainaSharvari, Diljit Dosanjh and Naseeruddin Shah. The film will hit theaters on June 12, 2026. After watching the film before its release, Ekta admitted that the experience stayed with her for a long time and she struggled to find the right words to describe it. Taking to Instagram on Sunday, she wrote: “All I want to say is – you have no idea what’s coming next!”
‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’: A love story set against the partition era
Describing the emotional depth of the film, Ektaa explained that ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ explores love against the backdrop of Partition, while showing how emotions remain timeless despite changing generations.“The film is called Main Vaapas Aaunga, a love story set against the backdrop of Partition. A film that beautifully shows how generations can think differently, live differently and love differently…yet somehow it all comes back to the same thing: you have to fall in love! It’s emotional, it’s timeless, and it stays with you long after it’s over,” he said.According to Ekta Kapoor, the film evokes a deep sense of nostalgia and reminds viewers of unresolved relationships and emotions over time. He also added that the story captures a kind of love that existed before modern technology changed communication. Ektaa described the pain of longing and waiting, where emotions carried more weight than immediate responses or digital connections.
Vedang Raina leaves Ektaa Kapoor stunned
While praising the ensemble cast, Ekta singled out Vedang Raina’s performance, calling it the surprise element of the film. The actor, who previously appeared in ‘The Archies’, received glowing praise from the producer. Ekta called her role a “brilliant performance” and mentioned that she noticed her charm even during her debut appearance in ‘The Archies’.He also appreciated Diljit Dosanjh for delivering a restrained and emotionally layered performance. According to him, the actor conveys much of his character’s conflict and vulnerability through his expressions and eyes rather than dialogue.

Talking about Sharvari, who is known for films like ‘Munjya’ and ‘Maharaj’, Ekta wrote, “@sharvari is absolutely beautiful on screen. Her eyes express every emotion with so much grace and sincerity. He has such a big presence, and he’s definitely someone we hope to see in other films.’The producer also praised veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, who starred in ‘Masoom’, ‘A Wednesday!’ celebrated for such classics as and ‘Iqbal’.“@naseeruddin49 is just an icon. Words used to describe how good he is would honestly feel inadequate as nothing really does justice to the kind of actor he is,” he added.

‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ is produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment in association with Mohit Choudhary and Shibasish Sarkar’s Window Seat Films. The film will hit theaters on June 12, 2026, and the music rights are with Tips Music.
