Dushara Vijayan prioritizes strong characters over screen presence
Talking to Variety India about her approach to selecting roles, Dushara said, “I want my character to connect with the audience. It doesn’t matter how much screen time I get; the character does.” The actor revealed that he instantly felt a connection with Jhansi when director A. Sarkunam narrated the story. “When he explained the character to me, I knew I had to do it,” he said. For Dushara, the emotional depth and significance of the role was far more important than the duration of her screen appearance.

Dushara also spoke about why the main theme of ‘Examination’ resonated with him personally. “I have a relative who has been writing an opposition contest for the past 10 years. He has decided not to get married until he clears,” he shared. The actor said that such stories are common in many homes and should be highlighted. “It’s a real problem, and it feels good to be part of a series that talks about it,” he added. His comments reflect his interest in projects that reflect real-life challenges and social realities.
Action and emotion make ‘Exam’ a special project for Dushara Vijayan
Apart from the story, Dushara enjoyed the action elements featured in the series. “I get excited about the crockery,” he said as he recalled the preparation process. Action director Dinesh Subbarayan revealed that the actors trained extensively, especially for the intense fight scenes. One of the most difficult scenes was a fight in the car, which had to be carefully planned and choreographed. “Exam” is another unique production added to Dushara Vijayan’s growing repertoire through its socially relevant plot, emotional acting and challenging action scenes.
