Rizwan Sajan’s early life was far from luxurious
Before becoming one of the household names in business, Rizwan spent his childhood in Mumbai in humble circumstances. He grew up in a lower-middle-class family in Ghatkopar, where economic challenges shaped his daily life. Even small expenses required detailed planning, reported the Indian Express. During those years, his family had to carefully manage household expenses, and his pocket money remained limited.Rizwan once shared how a simple school memory eventually changed the direction of his life. Seeing his friends buying snacks in the school cafeteria made him realize that he wanted to earn his own money. Recalling the moment, he told Curly Tales, “I used to end up with Rs 15 in pocket money a week. It was embarrassing when my friends ate and I couldn’t. At 14, I started my first business in a canteen to afford samosas.That small goal later became the beginning of his entrepreneurial journey.
Rizwan Sajan’s first venture started with Rs 1,000
Rizwan’s first business started with a small amount borrowed from his father. He used Rs 1,000 to buy school books in wholesale markets in Mumbai and then sold them during the school season. The idea ended up bringing more returns than he expected. Recalling that phase, he said, “I became a rich boy and started giving samosas to my friends.” For a teenager hoping to earn a little extra money, the experience became an important lesson. A few years later, Rizwan moved to Dubai with the intention of starting his own business. At the time, he had limited savings and had to allocate his money carefully between business expenses and family responsibilities. The initial months were characterized by uncertainty and financial pressure. Gradually, the profits started to increase and it gave him confidence that his business was going in the right direction. Those initial steps eventually expanded into a large business empire.
Rizwan Sajan’s success never changed his perspective
Despite achieving an unparalleled level of success, Rizwan has repeatedly said that financial gain was never the primary goal behind his work. Talking about his mindset, he said, “Work motivates me. Money is just a by-product.” He further added: “I was born in a small town. Then we moved to a chawl. Today, I live in a 40,000 square meter house.
