The film, which arrived in theaters on May 8, marked the director’s debut Martin Joseph.Martin Joseph worked as a longtime associate of filmmaker Jeethu Joseph. The makers have officially confirmed the OTT release plans of the film.

‘Dridam’ will start streaming on JioHotstar from June 12. The platform made the announcement through an official social media update.Sharing the release information, the platform wrote, “Seeking justice. Fighting for truth. #Dridam from 12th June on JioHotstar”The film casts Shane Nigam in the role of Vijay Radhakrishnan, a newly appointed Sub-Inspector. He takes up his post at a rural police station and expects a relatively quiet start to his new role. However, the situation around him changes quickly after several criminal incidents begin to disturb the area.A murder and a bank robbery soon pose serious challenges for the officer. Vijay finds himself embroiled in increasingly complicated investigations as he tries to uncover the truth. Jomon John and Linto Devasia have written the script together.

Martin Joseph opens up about the script changes

Martin Joseph recently discussed the creative development of the film in an interview with Variety. He explained that a certain line related to the film was not originally written in the script. The director explained that the idea came after sharing the script with Jeethu Joseph.Martin said, “I gave it to Jeethu Sir to read the script of ‘Dridam.’One of the suggestions he made was to include this famous line from his film. He thought it would spark intrigue among the audience if there is a ‘Drishyam’ connection to the film or if the character uses a pop culture reference that seemed appropriate at the time.”

Jeethu Joseph’s lesson shaped the film

Martin reflected on the lessons he learned while working alongside Jeethu Joseph over the years. He said, “One of my main learnings has been about realistic storytelling. Jeethu Joseph’s repeated comments to his peers are about the importance of a strong script as it forms the foundation of a film and connects the audience with the story and characters.”Along with Shane Nigam, it also features Sanya, Shobi Thilakan, Krishna Praba Nair, Nandan Unni, Dinesh Prabhakar, Kottayam Ramesh and Bitto Davis in important roles.
