Action director Aejaz Gulab recently shared information about a gripping scene in “Dhurandhar: The Revenge”, where a powerful explosion sinks the ground, forming a huge crater in the middle of the action. The sequence stands out for its intensity and realism, demonstrating the scale and ambition of the film’s action design.Speaking about the execution with Digital Commentary, Gulab explained, “The biggest challenge was to make a real fall with a real actor.” The scene required the performer to crash through a table, leaving the floor beneath him. To maintain authenticity, the team chose to virtually film the moment instead of relying solely on visual effects.
Despite its dangerous appearance, safety remained a top priority. The cast and table were securely positioned to control the fall and minimize risk. The setup allowed the impact to look convincing on screen while protecting the performer from harm, highlighting the precision behind these sequences. While the descent and initial impact were recorded live on set, the final crater effect was digitally enhanced. “The crash, the fall and the crash were almost filmed,” Gulab said, adding that CGI was used to refine the visual impact. This combination allowed the team to achieve the perfect blend of realism and cinematic scale. The sequence is a strong example of how complex action scenes are carefully choreographed. What appears chaotic on screen is the result of meticulous planning, technical expertise and cross-departmental coordination to ensure both safety and spectacle.
