New Delhi: Union Education Minister Mr Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday held discussions with senior officials of four public sector banks to improve the Central Board of Secondary Education’s payment gateway system, following recent technical and payment-related issues faced by students during post-examination services.Senior officials from State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank and Indian Bank participated in the meeting, which focused on improving the reliability and efficiency of digital payment processes related to CBSE services such as re-examination applications, photocopies of answer sheets and other fee-based facilities.Focus on student-friendly payment systems.During the meeting, Mr. Pradhan stressed the need for a secure and student-friendly payment ecosystem that can handle large volume of transactions seamlessly. He directed the banks to work with the CBSE in strengthening payment protocols to prevent technical glitches and delays during the crucial post-result process.The minister directed the banks to ensure timely transactions and establish a system for prompt resolution of payment related complaints. He also called for a mechanism that would allow automatic refunds in cases of failed or overpayment by students and parents while accessing online CBSE services.The officials discussed introduction of advanced technical safeguards, real-time monitoring system and prompt grievance redressal mechanism to improve existing payment gateway infrastructure.Banks asked to give priority to technological upgradationMr. Pradhan asked the participating banks to give top priority to this initiative so that students do not face payment failure or technical glitches in examination related procedures in future. He urged the banks to ensure that digital transactions linked to CBSE services remain smooth, secure and efficient.Banks assured the Union Ministry of Education of their full cooperation and pledged to implement better protocols and technological upgrades at the earliest in coordination with CBSE.The discussion came after students raised concerns over payment and technical issues during the CBSE post-results and revaluation process.The meeting took place after discussions with the Finance Minister.Earlier, on 24 May 2026, Mr. Pradhan also discussed with the Union Finance Minister Shrimati Nirmala Sitharaman about the recent technical and payment issues reported during CBSE post-result services.The latest meeting is part of the Centre’s efforts to strengthen the digital infrastructure supporting examination-related services and improve the experience of students accessing online CBSE facilities.
