The animated series ‘Devil May Cry’ has officially been greenlit for a third and final season, bringing the show’s larger story to its planned conclusion. Showrunner Adi Shankar confirmed the renewal and revealed that the three-season structure was always the intention, describing the project from the start as a “movie trilogy disguised as a TV series”.The series premiered in 2025, with the second season premiering in May 2026. Both seasons have spent four weeks in the top 10 English language TV chart.

In a letter penned by Shankar, the showrunner explained the broader creative vision behind the series. “For those of you who have been paying attention to the section names, I’ve been showing the structure all along,” he said. “This was always Dante’s ‘Divine Comedy’ with a gun and a red coat. Season 1 was ‘Hell’. Season 2 was ‘Purgatory’. Season 3 will be ‘Paradiso’. These three seasons make up ‘The Force Edge Saga’.From its inception, “The Force Edge Saga” was designed as a movie trilogy disguised as a TV series.”
