While chatting with Variety, Erivo discussed what life has been like after the ‘Wicked’ franchise. During the interview, he also addresses some unfounded rumors that he and Ariana Grande are not friends in real life.The 39-year-old said: “I think people didn’t really believe we were really friends. But that’s also because people don’t know me very well. If I’m a friend, I’m a friend. If I’m not, I’m not.” He added that the two were quite close at the time and often tried to help each other.He also commented: “It’s very interesting to see what people’s perception is and what reality really is. Many psychologists sitting at home deciding who we were, what we were going through, what we were doing and why.” He added that the two text each other almost every day and are still close friends.Regarding the ‘Wicked’ franchise, the actor commented that it was “a storm in a teacup”, and that “it took everything and changed my life beautifully”.
