CUET UG 2026: SIO India appeals to NTA to postpone May 28 exam over Eid-ul-Adha concerns

The Students Islamic Organization of India (SIO) has emphasized this. National Testing Agency (NTA) has postponed the CUET UG 2026 examinations scheduled for May 28, 2026, saying that the date coincides with Eid-ul-Adha celebrations and may cause difficulties for candidates appearing for the national level entrance test.In a memorandum submitted to the examination agency, the SIO said that students from different parts of the country have expressed concern over accessibility issues related to religious ceremonies, long distance travel and examination schedule. The organization demanded that the NTA announce an alternative date to ensure that students are not forced to choose between appearing for the exam and attending an important religious festival.

The SIO says students are facing travel and accessibility issues.

According to SIO India, many students are expected to travel across districts and states to reach their allotted examination centers. The organization argued that holding the exam on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha could put candidates under unnecessary logistical and emotional stress. In its statement shared on social media platform X, the SIO said it has formally appealed to the NTA to revise the May 28 schedule in the interest of “fairness, inclusion and access” for students. The organization maintained that national exams involving lakhs of students should be planned with greater sensitivity to major religious occasions celebrated across the country.

CUET UG has become one of the largest entrance exams in India.

CUET UG is now the primary route of admission to undergraduate programs offered by central universities and various other partner institutions. This exam conducted by NTA is being conducted in computer based mode from May 11 to May 31 this year. With over 1.5 lakh registrations reported for CUET UG 2026, any scheduling issue associated with the examination calendar has nationwide implications for students, universities and examination authorities.

There is no official response from NTA yet

NTA has not yet issued any official notification regarding the rescheduling of the May 28 exam. The CUET UG 2026 schedule available on the official portal continues to show the exam dates as planned.
