CUET UG 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has reopened the city re-location window for the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2026. It has been opened to provide relief to candidates who were not allotted seats in their preferred examination cities due to lack of capacity. In its official notice, the agency said that out of 15,68,866 registered candidates, 96.6% were allotted one of their preferred cities, while 79% got their first choice. Despite this, 3.4% of applicants were unable to fit into their chosen preferences due to high demand for specific locations.Such applicants have an opportunity to select seats from other cities using the reallocation facility on the CUET website. The whole process will be done on first come first serve basis with no room for much delay.

Candidates are advised to act immediately

NTA has clearly advised that candidates who are eligible for reallocation should register without further delay. With first-come-first-served basis for allotment, there may be less selections than any delay.Additionally, candidates need to confirm their admit card details such as city, center, date, and time shift, and make necessary travel plans in advance, especially in case of relocation.

CUET UG 2026: How to Apply for City Resettlement

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has made it clear that the re-allocation process is time-sensitive and strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. Candidates seeking change in their allotted examination city should take immediate action. Here’s how to apply:

  • Visit the official portal of CUET UG, cuet.nta.nic.in
  • Enter your Application Number and Password/Date of Birth to access your candidate dashboard.
  • Check your current allotted city carefully, along with exam date and shift details.
  • Click on “Replace City” or similar link available on the dashboard.
  • A list of vacant cities (based on your subject combination and exam schedule) will appear.
  • Select an appropriate option from the available list. Options are limited and dynamic.
  • Submit your selection. Make sure you download or note down the confirmation for future reference.
  • After successful re-location, verify the latest details on your admit card once issued.
