Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have formally lodged a complaint with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over alleged misconduct during their IPL 2026 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Chinnaswamy Stadium on 5th April.The complaint highlighted a number of concerns, ranging from inappropriate entertainment at the stadium to alleged harassment of CSK supporters, adding a new layer of controversy to one of the IPL’s fiercest rivalries.According to the Indian Express sourcing CSK reports, a song was played during the match that included references such as “dosa, idli, sambar, chutney”, which the franchise felt was stereotypical and mocked. CSK managing director Kasi Viswanathan told The Indian Express: “DJs are usually there to support the home team. But at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, it was different. Some comments were made against our players. Considering this, we have written to the BCCI to look into it.”The song in question, originally composed by composer Gana Appu, has been associated with CSK-RCB matches and often circulates on social media. The incident dates back to last year, when RCB shared a video of wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma singing “dosa, idli, sambar, chutney” before a match in Chennai, drawing backlash from CSK fans. During the return match in Chepauk, CSK’s DJ played the same track when Jitesh was dismissed.After the incident, the CSK management intervened and issued clear instructions to avoid any remarks or actions that could target opposing players or fans. “Since then, there has been no recurrence. DJ should not make comments on opposing players, and we are fortunate to have a fan base that supports us in large numbers,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said.However, CSK has now raised concerns again, pointing out that similar lines were crossed during the April 5 match in Bengaluru. Apart from the song, he has objected to the stadium DJ’s remarks after the CS players were dismissed. The team management also raised concerns over the conduct of the stadium DJ, alleging that the comments made after the dismissal of the CSK players crossed the line. CSK argued that the DJ’s role should be to enhance the atmosphere of the match, not target or ridicule the opposition.
