Coal India Limited (CIL), a specialized Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Coal, has announced recruitment for 660 Management Trainee (MT) posts in E-1 grade. The online application process will start on 12 May 2026 at 10 AM and will continue till 11 June 2026 at 6 PM.The recruitment drive includes vacancies in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, System, Electronics & Telecommunication, Geology, Industrial Engineering, Raj Bhasha (Hindi) and Company Secretary. Selection will be made entirely on the basis of marks obtained in Computer Based Online Test (CBT). No interviews will be conducted.Candidates selected as Management Trainees will get salary in the scale of Rs.60,000 to Rs.1,80,000 during the training period, with an initial basic salary of Rs.60,000 per month. After successful completion of one year of training less probation, candidates will be certified as officers in the E-1 grade.Upper age limit for General and EWS candidates is 30 years as on 30th April 2026. Relaxation in upper age limit will be applicable for reserved category candidates as per government rules.The CBT will be conducted for three hours and will consist of two papers of 100 marks each. Paper-I will test General Knowledge, Reasoning, Numerical Ability and English, while Paper-II will examine the professional knowledge related to the discipline. There will be no negative marking.A total of 660 posts have been announced including backlog posts. Among the sectors, Electrical has the highest number of 221 vacancies, followed by Civil with 178 and Mechanical with 145.Candidates belonging to General, OBC and EWS categories will have to pay an application fee of Rs 1,180 inclusive of GST. SC, ST, PwBD candidates and employees of Coal India and its subsidiaries are exempted from payment of fee.

Coal India Management Trainee: Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must possess the requisite degree from a recognized university or institute with minimum qualifying marks. Most engineering fields require a BE/BTech degree with at least 60% marks. Reserve category candidates get a relaxation of 5% in minimum qualifying marks. Final year students expecting results by 31st August 2026 are also eligible to apply.
